Doug, I was underwhelmed by the lineup on paper and decided to save my $34.95. I saw a few fights on the Internet but I decided not to do an article on it since I did not see the event in its entirety. As I'm sure you've read, the reviews thus far have not been good.

Yeah, I'd like to travel more but I'm not sure what's up. Shields pulled a back muscle in training last week. He went to a specialist but it just wasn't going to be ready in time.

Ale, unfortunately neither ProElite or Showtime will be sending me out to San Jose. As for Shields vs. Fickett, I got the word early this morning. It's a shame because I was looking forward to seeing Shields fight again.

Phil, I agree with you 100%. That's why I suggested in the article that I feel like the first three fights should be guaranteed. If a fighter isn't booked three times in 10 months, they are compensated for the fights they didn't get booked for.

It's tough to say for sure. I know that a lot of fights for this show took a while to book because a lot of Jersey/Philly fighters apparently were difficult to deal with. In regard to Eddie, I know that the two sides have been talking since early December. The negotiations with Eddie were complicated because he still technically has one fight on his Bodog contract. Bodog also wanted to re-sign him and the WEC and M-1 were interested. Eddie couldn't make a decision in time for the deadline to be on their show. Then, I heard that there was some movement with Eddie and a cancellation on the card, so they slotted him on the undercard. Still, I do not know if they were ever serious about the fight vs. Quinlon because Eddie's and match wasn't finalized until over the weekend even though a release was sent out Friday morning claiming he was on the card. Obviously, the timing could have been better and while I can't speak for the promotion, my assumption is they probably felt booking Eddie late for this card was better than not all.

In my mind, Silva has already broke out. If you read my full list, I think you will see that Silva is at least one tier above the eight guys I selected in regard to notoriety.

Actually, the undercard probably won't be streamed. Which sucks, because it means people are going to miss out on a great fight between Wilson Reis and Zach Makovsky. But I think you'll be pretty pleased with what's in store for Eddie.

I say "ProElite.com" has learned because it sounds more professional than referring to myself in the third person or saying "I have learned."

Erik, thanks! BTW, do you know how I could get a copy of some DVD footage of Wilson Reis and Jared Weiner from the Grappler's Quest in Mapleshade? They are both my trainers and really want to see the footage but it doesn't look like it will be posted. They competed in the black belt lightweight division.
