Preparations being made for ShoXC event... (viewed 353 times)
While EliteXC and Showtime have yet to make an official announcement, preparations are already underway for the next ShoXC event, which is currently expected to take place in New Jersey on Dec. 7.
While no fights have formally been signed for the event, FiveOuncesOfPain.com has learned that a proposed main event between Cage Rage welterweight champion Paul Daley and Jose Rodriguez is being discussed.
The bulk of the undercard would primarily be comprised of some of the top undiscovered talent from the Northeast corridor of the U.S.
FiveOuncesOfPain.com has also learned that promoters are trying to secure bout agreements for a match Jim Bova vs. Wilson Reis and also Aaron Miesner and Zach Mavosky in separate bouts.
Miesner and Makovsky are top prospects that train out of separate fight camps in Philadelphia.
Miesner trains out of Daddis Fight Camps, which also doubles as the Philadelphia affiliate for Miletich Fighting Systems. He's a polished Muay Thai striker known for his deadly knees and is 2-0 since making his pro MMA debut in March.
Makovsky fights out of the Fight Factory, which is the home to former BodogFIGHT welterweight champion Eddie Alvarez. Competing for the Extreme Challenge Northeast and Ed Hsu's Combat in the Cage promotions, he is 3-0 with his most recent victory coming on Oct. 6 in Trenton, NJ against top Jiu-Jitsu practitioner Emerson Souza.
Bova is the current Combat in the Cage lightweight champion, a title that he won on Oct. 6 when he submitted Mark Getto with a rear naked choke at 3:59 of round one. Training out of Anthracite Combat Club in Minersville, PA, Bova recently attended the IFL's draft tryouts and New York and advanced to their final pool, making him eligible for a full-time spot in 2008.
Reis trains out of Daddis Fight Camps and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu United and is a well-known name on the grappling circuit. A black belt with legitimate world class submission skills, he is 2-0 since making his pro MMA debut in July. His last win came against Bova's teammate, Diego Jimenez, on the same Oct. 6 show in Trenton that Miesner, Makovsky, and Bova all competed on.
Editor's note: It was incorrectly reported in this article that Miesner would be facing Makovsky. Both fighters are in separate weight classes and if signed to the card, will be competing in separate bouts.
